“The Sonic Movie Effect”

The “Sonic Movie Effect” is when a negative fan reaction caused the movie’s design or production to delay or change and end up earning what the fans wanted instead.

In 2018-2019, the design for the Sonic movie was revealed and it end up looking questionable and kinda creepy but when fans saw this design, they demanded that it be changed so the Sonic Movie was delayed to 2020 and caused the filmmakers to change Sonic’s design into the one we got in the recent Sonic movies. Somehow this Ugly Sonic design end up being on the 2022’s Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers movie which I haven’t watched but I think it’s best to ignore that Old Sonic design.

The 2nd time that happened it’s when the Mario movie was announced in 2021 with Chris Pratt being the voice of Mario and it caused a lot of Mario fans to create a petition to change his voice back to Charles Martinet who voiced Mario in the video games but Chris Pratt somehow dodged the bullet on that one which end up making the Mario movie a big success in 2023.

When Micheal Bay was signed on to direct the Transformers movies, he changed the design to look like more organic and somehow unrecognizable which caused a lot of fan backlash throughout the Transformers movies’ history which leads to the box office disappointment of The Last Knight and Bay stepping down as director. But the Transformers movies were saved with a new director “Travis Knight” who changed the designs of the Transformers characters to look more like the original cartoon in the 2018 Bumblebee movie and winning over some G1 fans.

I heard that the “Sonic Movie Effect” is still going on with the new “Minecraft Movie” with Jack Black which I am unsure about but I’m ignoring the fan backlash news about the Minecraft Movie which is coming out in 2025.

I so wish I kept wish ASL back in high school but even then (cuz of this show!!) I learned some but not enough to talk with it.. I can kinda tell signs but not enough to know know. Sigh need an app like Duolingo but for ASL.. all the ones I find aren’t free after one or two lessons. Or just aren’t helpful. I used to use lifeprint but I like how Duolingo is laid out more like ‘game’ lessons to help idk.

Taylor Swift being at Lambeau Field (a stadium I’ve been going to since I was a CHILD) in Green Bay (a city I’ve visited MANY TIMES), Wisconsin (THE STATE IN WHICH I LIVE AND AM CURRENTLY IN) to watch the Chiefs v. Packers (the team I grew up cheering on/dressing up for) game is by far the most surprising part of 2023.
